RESULTS OF THE SURVEY OF END USERS

 For the third consecutive year, ECOFUT has conducted a survey among end users who have called upon the association to take back their packaging. This survey makes it possible to see the follow up given to the responses ECOFUT offered to industry.

 Out of 33 replies received, 18 companies dealt with an ECOFUT approved operator, 7 with a non-ECOFUT operator and 8 companies were simply looking for information.

 Packaging which can be re-used is often picked up by the operator at zero cost with transport costs being borne by the holder. In addition, the end user will be called upon to pay between 0.40 and 2 francs per kilo (excl. transport) if the packaging for re-use necessitates several pretreatments.

 For packaging which cannot be re-used and which is to be recycled by material recycling or energy recovery, the cost to be paid by the holder averages 2.04 francs per kilo excluding transport; if transport is included the amount to pay averages 3.75 francs per kilo. Finally, the cost of destruction in an approved centre (for DIS, especially) is around 6.66 francs per kilo excluding the cost of transport.
